“Shinagawa Digital Archive” is now available for viewing valuable publications and videos on the Internet

From March 31, 2020 (Friday), Shinagawa Ward will release a digital archive centered on the "History of Shinagawa Ward" and "History of Shinagawa", which are the basic materials of the history of the ward, on a dedicated website. Start publishing.

By digitizing the historical materials owned by the ward, the purpose is to promote the utilization of the materials and improve the convenience of reference, as well as the long-term preservation of valuable materials that have deteriorated over time.

A total of 43 items will be released, including publications such as "History of Shinagawa Ward" and "History of Shinagawa", videos of traditional performing arts and fixed-point videos, ukiyo-e prints by Hiroshige Utagawa and others, and statistical data of Shinagawa Ward. No pre-registration is required, and you can browse freely on the dedicated website "Shinagawa Digital Archive" that can be accessed from the Shinagawa City Library website.
The accuracy of text search has been improved, and the illustrations and maps have been improved to make them easier to use.

In addition, it is also possible to search within the portal site "Japan Search", which is linked to the national cross-sector integrated portal site. A staff member of the Shinagawa Library, who is in charge of the project, said, "We hope that many people will take advantage of the digital archive and deepen their interest in and attachment to Shinagawa Ward."
