A traditional crafts workshop was held at Shinagawa Ward's Third Hino Elementary School for two days, September 17th (Tuesday) and 19th (Thursday).
The Traditional Crafts Experience Classes are classes where artisans visit elementary schools and compulsory education schools in the ward to pass on skills and traditional culture.
The theme of this class is "Edo Sudare"!!
Mr. Yuji Suzuki from the Shinagawa Ward Traditional Crafts Preservation Society gave us instruction in the "Edo Sudare" experience!
The children had the experience of weaving Edo sudare blinds under the guidance of Ms. Suzuki, and also tried their hand at making placemats using the Edo sudare manufacturing method.
Those who completed the project said, "I want to use it during school lunches."
" he said happily.
