The Shinagawa Historical Museum (6-11-1 Oi) is holding a special commemorative exhibition for its renewal, "The creation of Odaiba in the sea off Shinagawa – Unraveling the major construction work from 170 years ago through diaries," until Sunday, December 15, 2024.
This commemorative exhibition was held to celebrate the 170th anniversary of Perry's return and the completion of Shinagawa Odaiba. The exhibition introduces the details of the major construction, focusing on the diaries left by Takamatsu Hikosaburo, a shogunate official, and Ito Seiichiro, headman of Shimojakubo village, and tells the story of who built Shinagawa Odaiba in an era without machinery.
