Matilda, a home cooking takeout service, has been selected as the first service to be used in Shinagawa Ward's Shinagawa City Lab demonstration project, and began trial operations at the south ticket gate of JR Osaki Station on Monday, November 4, 2024 (national holiday).
"Matilda" is a takeaway service that offers over 750 types of home-cooked meals to choose from, based on online pre-orders. Aimed at families with children who don't have enough time to spend with their children due to dual-income households, the service offers delicious home-cooked meals every day, while reducing the burden of planning, cooking, and cleaning up. Sets of three dishes – a main dish, a side dish, and a soup – can be used from one day to five days a week to suit your lifestyle.
At a "Children's Conference" held by Shinagawa Ward in September, children expressed the opinion that "it would be good to have more time to spend with one's family." It is expected and evaluated that the station will not only increase the time parents and children can spend together, but also increase the food options for children and families, and lead to the formation of a community. In response, it was certified as the first demonstration experiment of Shinagawa Ward's "Shinagawa City Lab."
Mayor Morisawa also rushed to the site to support Yuka Maruyama, CEO of Matilda Co., Ltd. Just after 5pm, the first customers were already receiving their meals.
