[2025 Shinagawa Ward 20th Birthday Gathering (formerly known as Coming of Age Ceremony) will be held]

On Monday, January 13th, 2025 (national holiday), the "2025 Shinagawa Ward 20th Birthday Gathering (formerly known as Coming of Age Ceremony)" was held at Curian (5-18-1 Higashioi).

Due to a revision of the Civil Code, the age of majority was lowered to 18 from April 2022. However, Shinagawa Ward has renamed its Coming of Age Ceremony the "Gathering of Twenty-Year-Olds" (Hatachi no Tsudoi) and is continuing to hold the ceremony for people who are 20 years old as usual.

Approximately 2,800 ward residents are turning 20 this year. More than 1,700 people participated in the event, which had the theme of "Meeting, Connecting, Becoming People."
Through public recruitment, nine people who live in the ward and will turn 20 this year became the executive committee, and have been preparing to plan and run the event since September last year.

At the ceremony, a magnificent dance performance by the M++DANCERS, a group based in the ward, was followed by words of encouragement from Mayor Morisawa.

On both sides of the stage in the main hall, celebratory works by the Shinagawa Women's College Flower Arrangement Club were displayed, and the brass band performed a performance to celebrate those who had turned 20. There was also a raffle with luxurious prizes.
In the 7th floor event hall, a booth was set up where people could meet their former teachers and classmates from their time at the ward school, taking commemorative photos and reminiscing, which was a huge success. Shinagawa Tourism Ambassador "Apprentice" "Hatachi no Ryoma" and the cheerful election image character "Campaigner Meisui-kun" also participated, and celebrated their 20th birthdays together.
