On November 17th (Sun) and 18th (Mon), 2024, eight bridges – Mitake Bridge, Kaname Bridge, Egawa Bridge, Shinagawa Bridge, Shinshingawa Bridge, Aille Bridge, Kamome Bridge, and Katsushima Bridge – were lit up in teal blue in conjunction with the "Teal Blue Japan Campaign."
The "Teal Blue Japan Campaign" is a project that links with the "Worldwide Illumination to Eradicate Cervical Cancer" organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) with the aim of raising awareness of cervical cancer screening and promoting correct understanding of the HPV vaccine. In this project, Japanese landmarks are lit up teal blue on November 17th and 18th every year.
The ward aims to turn the ward's waterfronts into bustling tourist hubs and tourist attractions, and as part of the "Lighted Waterfront Project," 13 bridges over the Meguro River, Keihin Canal, and Tennozu South Canal are lit up in seasonal colors as well as to coincide with events, anniversaries, and the Awareness Ribbon Campaign.
