[Shinagawa Ward Mayor Kyoko Morisawa] Longevity celebration, 100-year-old visit

We visited the home of Reizo Fukuda, who will be 100 years old next month, and celebrated his longevity.

Mr. Fukuda was born in 1920. As a young man, he studied French at Osaka University of Foreign Studies (currently Osaka University Faculty of Foreign Studies) and went to war as a student. After being discharged from the military, he moved to Tokyo, got married, and worked for Japanese National Railways.

Mr. Fukuda started running marathons when he was 59 to 60 years old and continued running until he was diagnosed with stomach cancer. After overcoming stomach cancer, he is currently living a healthy life, eating three meals a day and walking for one hour a day.
