[Traditional craft experience: Paulownia wood smartphone stand]

On Saturday, November 9th, a traditional crafts experience class was held at the Shinagawa Ward Small and Medium Enterprise Center.

This time the theme is [Tokyo Kiri Tansu]!!
The instructors are Professor Hayashi Hidetomo and Professor Hayashi Masatsugu, members of the Shinagawa Ward Traditional Crafts Preservation Society.

This paulownia smartphone stand is made using the techniques of paulownia chests that have been handed down since the Edo period!
It's a unique subject that allows you to create contemporary items using traditional techniques.

Participants who assembled the paulownia wood to complete their smartphone stands expressed their joy, saying, "The warmth of the wood is so comfortable," and "It could also be used as interior decoration."

Shinagawa Ward will continue to hold events related to traditional crafts. On Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, January 26th, 2025, the "Traditional Techniques and Flavors / Shinagawa Exhibition" will be held at Curian (Shinagawa Ward Community Center). There will be a wide variety of events, including demonstrations by many craftsmen, experience classes, and an exhibition of traditional Shinagawa flavors.
