Jonan Elementary School (2-8-21 Minamishinagawa) is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, and a celebratory ceremony was held on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
Jonan Elementary School was founded at Jyogyoji (2-9-18 Minamishinagawa) on December 5, 1874. With the educational goal of raising "children who learn well with confidence, who get along well and help each other, and who are healthy in mind and body," the school has produced many graduates.
At the ceremony, following the speeches from Principal Miura and Ward Mayor Morisawa, the sixth graders presented the history of Jonan Elementary School, as well as congratulatory words and songs. After the ceremony, the sixth graders conducted a guided tour, guiding guests and former teachers around the area, presenting the local history they had learned, and introducing exhibits created by other grades.
