A traditional crafts workshop was held at Shinagawa Ward Gotenyama Elementary School on Thursday, October 3rd and Friday, October 4th.
The Traditional Crafts Experience Classes are classes where artisans visit elementary schools and compulsory education schools in the ward to pass on skills and traditional culture.
The theme of this class is "Edo Kiriko"!!
Mr. Kawabe Katsuhisa from the Shinagawa Ward Traditional Crafts Preservation Society demonstrated how to apply patterns to glass.
Afterwards, with the assistance of Mr. Kawabe, the children also had the opportunity to carve patterns into the glasses themselves!
Everyone was fascinated by the many pieces by Professor Kawabe that were on display, commenting how beautiful they were and how luxurious they looked.
