This event was planned, organized, and run by the Children's Festival Steering Committee, and co-hosted by the ward and the Shinagawa Cultural Promotion Foundation. Ten dance groups of junior high school students or younger active in the ward participated. The Traditional Crafts Hands-on Classes are classes where artisans visit elementary schools and compulsory education schools in the ward to pass on skills and traditional culture. The theme of this lesson is "Tatami"!! The lecturer will be Matsui Masaharu from the Shinagawa Ward Traditional Crafts Preservation Society. We heard about the manufacturing process and history of tatami mats, and then tried our hand at making coasters using tatami mats.
